Daniel Arthur Caños, Ph.D., M.P.H is a Senior Epidemiologist in the Coverage and Analysis Group (CAG) where he develops data analysis strategies in preparation of a Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committees (MEDCACs) and reconsideration of National Coverage Decisions (NCDs) where formal policy can be created based on the study results. Dr. Caños provides input for the scientific specifications of data collections needs for Coverage with Evidence Development (CED). Before joining CAG, Dr. Caños was an Associate Director in the Office of Surveillance and Biometrics in the Division of Epidemiology. He originally joined FDA in 2008. His work in the Division of Epidemiology included the development of a national system for medical devices through national and international registry infrastructure development, administrative claims research work, and evidence synthesis in the areas of cardiovascular, neurologic, ophthalmic, ear, nose, throat, anesthesiology, general hospital, respiratory, and dental devices. He received a BA in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, MPH from the George Washington University, and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
