Christian Behrendt is the project leader for the GermanVasc Vascular Registry Germany. He is an expertis in vascular research and quality improvement projects, and specialises in the utilization of healthcare insurance claims (HIC) data. He is a regular member of the VASCUNET committee of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), and founding member of the International Consortium of Vascular Registries (ICVR). Within these research collaborations, he is coordinating a DELPHI-process to harmonize parameters on PAD registries and a multinational study on amputations for PAD and diabetes.
Christian Behrendt has served as the project lead of the registry-based PSI-STUDY that included 2,798 percutaneous endovascular treatments of infrainguinal PAD at 74 German vascular centers between September and November 2015. He is currently analyzing the mandatory population-based PAD registry for Hamburg, including 24,000 percutaneous endovascular treatments from 2004 to 2015. Since 2016, he is implementing a data privacy compliant quality registry for PAD treatments in Hamburg (CORONA study) and Germany (IDOMENEO study). As speaker for the department of vascular medicine of the Hamburg City Health Study (HCHS), he is also coordinating several vascular projects within this largest regional healthcare study in the world.
